The ProBook was delivered promptly, and looked good-as-new to my eye.
Performance is adequate for the purposes for which I bought it, i.e., to be able to stream videos, shop at Amazon.com, and keep up with current events and my emails from my hospital bed.
Built-in Wi-Fi functionality made it very easy to latch onto the hospital’s Guest Wi-Fi Network.
Hard Disk capacity (500 GB) is generous.RAM (4GB) appears to be more than adequate, and is easily expandable should the need arise.
Overall, I am very pleased with the value of this purchase for the price I paid ($220).
Con:
Setting up took most of a day, as Windows 7 needed to install well over a hundred updates. Curiously, Microsoft Security Essentials, the free Anti-Virus program, marks its definition updates as Optional, so one must be careful to select them when they are offered.
The screen has rather a narrow viewing angle, but I could usually swivel it to a sweet spot that presented adequate visibility.
I strongly dislike the touchpad as a mouse simulacrum, so I added a Kensington trackball to my rig via one of the four USB ports. That was the only hardware upgrade I felt to be necessary.
