See my review of the same unit with 4 gig of ram rather than the 6 offered with this system. After buying one of these for my wife, I liked it enough to buy one for myself, replacing my tired and getting tireder Acer desktop, I bought this one because of the extra 2 gigs of ram. They make a difference in processing speed. While my wife’s light use lets her get along with 4 gigs, I needed the 6. The system works okay on Windows 8.1, but would be a 5 star system had it been available with Windows 7 Home Premium. Windows 8.1 is too clunky and hesitant for my tastes and seems to have been made with tablets in mind, although with their reduced ram and processing power I think the OS would be too frustratingly glacial to take seriously. As with most boxes I buy, I spent my first session uninstalling the bloatware that comes packed with the computer, ripping out and replacing the security suite in favor of Eset, and adding in a few of the business suites like Apache Open Office replacing the try and buy MS Office. All of the features and more, full Office compatibility and absolutely free with no ads. I also yanked out the Microsoft environments –cloud, Bing, maps, etc in favor of the Google milieu. All of my stuff is already ensconced there, and so simply loading Chrome and logging in went a long way to setting me up so that I was able to start being productive right away. I unpinned and replaced many of the tiles, switching them to make more sense for what I sue and want, although I;m pretty much a desktop denizen with marginal appreciation for the Start environment. It takes a little getting used to the steps required to make personalization and update changes, but I found myself getting along with things fairly well quickly.
The computer offers a couple of USB 3.0 and four USB 2.0 taps that made it easy to hand a terabyte external USB drive, and set the system u so that my photos and other content I want saved from computer catastrophe are easy to recover –or swap temporarily ot other computers to quickly make disk to disk content copies. I also use a WD MyCloud network personal cloud that I use for system image backups of all our computing devices, desktops, laptops, tablets and phones.
The computer appears to be well built, stylish, and is pretty darn portable, especially if you drop on bluetooth keyboard and mouse. Although it is a bit too bulky to carry under my arm. But moving it room to room and with its reduced footprint, makes it a good desktop for the mainstream users out there.

First, the computer arrived with a non matching keyboard and a non matching mouse that were wired even though the computer advertised is one that has a wireless keyboard and mouse. It was my mistake to assume that the company would disclose that they would throw together any old keyboard and any mouse, wireless or not, and that it wouldn’t match.
Second, and most importantly, the computer showed signs of being defective from the get go. The first sign was that the Windows installed was an unauthorized version because it wouldn’t let me upgrade to Windows 10 (all Windows users can upgrade to Windows 10 for free within the designated time period which I was well within). At that point I should’ve immediately complained to Ocean Reef Electronics but you know, I have something called a life and that life got very busy and I didn’t make the complaint.
The computer got worse. It began to freeze on startup and would tell me that Windows is not authentic and to contact my administrator. The ultimate problem is that now the computer screen goes completely black on startup and says that it is missing a boot disk. After trying to start the computer a good 5 or 6 times (and 3 hours later), I am lucky if the computer actually makes it to the Windows screen. But when it does, I have to work quickly because after a short time it freezes and tells me it needs to restart and the whole cycle
begins again: black screen, no boot disk, etc.
I bought a refurbished computer from this company because it had good reviews. But they must somehow be deleting bad reviews. I reached out to the company more than once and was not even favored with a phone call or a personal email. I just got a standard email that said I was outside of the 30 day return window (the computer is 2 months old).They literally will not even speak to me. BUYER BEWARE! This company sells defective products, installs unauthorized software, and then refuses to even speak to the customer. Do yourself a favor and choose a reputable company. Ocean Reef Electronics is NOT A REPUTABLE COMPANY!

It was something I wish I had order long ago. Looking forward to many years of use and updates . This seems to be the new standard and has nothing to do with the computer itself, but rather Windows and Microsoft policies.

I bought a HP Slate 7 (3400US) with free T-Mobile 200 MB/month. The device itself seems reasonable for the money. Do not expect it to perform like a Nexus 7. We use it for simple games, browsing, email, music, it performs well. I use it over wifi mostly, and even with good internet speed sometimes is slow to render websites. I watched Netflix HD movie, and was happy with the performance. You must have broadband service to get HD quality, obviously.

The problem with this device is that there are not too many accessories (eg. a decent case). I bought a cheap one, it is clunky, but seems to do its job.

I added a total of three users to this device, and each gets to customize it without affecting other users. This is important for me, so my personal information is not accessible to other users, and hopefully you can control what apps my young kids play. JellyBean 4.2.2 Andrioid version is pre-installed, and dont expect to get 4.4 (kitkat) any time soon. HP is slow in pushing these. No wonder they are loosing money.

Note: This does NOT come with a headphone, but that is not a big issue for me.

T-mobile customer service sucked big time, they had not clue about this free offer. On the day I received the tablet, I was playing with the settings and got locked out of the device "SIM disabled. PUK lock required to unlock" or something similar message came up. Telephone support was useless, they directed me to go to store. Store person wanted me to buy a one month data plan so she could activate my tablet with T-mobile. After back and forth, I was able to get a new SIM card, as the SIM itself was locked out. I inserted the new SIM, and tablet started to guide me through the activation process with T-mobile. T-mobile did not ask me for a credit card, sweet! Next day, the tablet said "NO service" and I have live in this area for many years, and I know there is service here. I called T-mobile and once again was disappointed with C. The customer service tried to tell me that I am in a dead spot but looking at the service map online. However, over the last 10 days, I have not had that problem again, even during severe weather.

For the money I paid, $130, it is a no brainer especially when you add the 200 MB/mo free data. I added SQUARE Trade warranty, which I had to use on my Kindle Fire, and they are excellent.

I am adding a 32GB microSD card for movies on the go. Have yet to try Skype, which will be one of the reasons I bough. The camera quality is acceptable to me, albeit it is a bit lower resolution. Again, I look at the price I paid, and so can't complain much. Battery appears to hold well, will find out more when I take it for a road trip.

Free 4G--when it works (and flaky GPS)

This does indeed come with free 4G. However it is much less reliable then my AT&T Samsung phone. I frequently do not receive a 4G signal when my phone does perhaps it is because is T Mobile.

The GPS is very unreliable, after being off by several hundred feet. Forget about using it for driving navigation, it often has you're on the wrong street. I also got it to use for geocaching but again it's extremely unreliable.

The charger is often unreliable and doesn't always make a connection or comes loose. For some reason in Europe it was much less reliable than in the United States although it is supposed to support 220 volts.

When I first got it it was constantly rebooting but a factory reset mostly fixed that.

For the price I suppose it's an OK deal, where else are you going to get free 4G at this cost?However device is overall not very good.

The two stars I'm giving are 1 for the price (beat a $100 tablet) and the free internet for life (only 200Mb but it is FOR LIFE)

The performance of this tablet is pretty upsetting, it feels like a 2007 device being used in 2014 - It does let you surf the web and do some BASIC things and that's about it. If you want to anything more complex than that (but still normal stuff for any other tablet/smartphone):
-Apps crash
-Navigation/usability becomes a nightmare
-Battery drains much faster
-Voice commands just don't work

The tablet's design is great, feels like a pricier one and its weight is just ideal.

In summary, go for it if you only need it to surf the web or check your emails on the go. Don't buy it if it will become your main device, you won't regret buying it (it only costs $100) but you'll regret you lost 10 minutes of your time trying to do the simplest of tasks.

Nice tablet.Perfect size. Will fit in my (large) pocket and SO MUCH more viewable screen than a smartphone.I have owned an I-Pad (9" tablet) for about 2 1/2 years and this is 98% of I-Pad quality.Only short coming is that the screen sometimes dims a little bit right after you go to the webpage or App that you want to view.

This is my first Android device, but a friend says that his Samsung phone (on Android) ALSO dims a little right after you go to the webpage or App that you want to view.Still learning the Android system after years on Apple iOS but able to maneuver about 90% as proficiently after a couple of days.Battery life is acceptable but not great.

Slightly disappointed in T-Mobile data coverage.It is not as good in my (NE Ohio) area when compared to Verizon.BUT when you are in T-Mobile data coverage area, you can quickly & easily setup a hotspot on this device for friends to use with their WiFi devices.

I would definitely recommend this purchase to friends.

Love this tablet when its functional. However it will randomly reboot. Sometimes when I think its "asleep" its actually depleting the battery completely and a rapid pace. When its plugged in, it will often shutoff. Meaning you pick it up to use it and have to wait for it to boot.
Fast when its working but not impressed with sleep/powermanagement/battery at all. I am aware that I should expect rapid battery loss if I am playing some high end game. However when asleep and no games running, it should last overnight on a full charge.

This is my 2nd one. My first tablet power connection on the tablet went bad. so i purchased another after two yrs.. The 2nd tablet is a refurb, and now it wants to stay on only when its pluged in to power source.or when battery is full charged.sometimes that happens. somethings not right. so im sending this one back after 1 month. T-mobile did update the free 200 mb per month on the tablet for me. i always call them and give them my sim card number and they can apply the number to your tablet if you buy another one offering the same promotion.Hope this helps some one.thanks for all of your feed backs
